Twisted 2020-2022
This body of work explores how a body deforms and decays over time due to chronic disease and pain. This was my first investigation into portraiture after being diagnosed with two chronic diseases. This is also my last body of work on ceramics before transitioning to works on paper, as working with ceramics became too difficult due to chronic pain.
Cordyceps Control 2019
In this body of work I explore the concept of parasitic cordyceps control. Cordyceps control is when a spore enters a host and begins controlling the hosts behavior, to the benefit of the reproduction of the cordyceps itself. The phenomenon occurs in insects, but I am entertaining the idea in other species from the animal kingdom. The whimsical images pair animals with other botanical elements that are usually emerging from their mouths or heads, as the cordyceps do in their actual insect hosts.
